About Kiné Fischler

Kiné Fischler, MSOM, Licensed Acupuncturist and Clinic Director

As is the case with many Chinese Medicine practitioners, my passion for this medicine began with my personal experience with this traditional holistic medicine. As a teenager, I suffered with horrible stomach pain that only got worse with conventional treatment and none of the testing lead to any other solution. In the spirit of an adventure seeking (and desperate) teenager, I stepped away from my family of physicians to seek out a Chinese Medicine practitioner to stop this debilitating pain. After 3 acupuncture treatments, I felt better than I had on medication and was totally hooked on Chinese Medicine! Intrigued to learn more about this amazing medicine, I traded babysitting services with my acupuncturist in exchange for treatment observations and time to ask many questions that made it clear that one day I would attend a Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine (MSOM) graduate school program. Until then I always incorporated East Asian medicine and acupuncture with conventional medical care for my own personal health along with offering her unsolicited herbal remedy advice to anyone who would listen!

My passion for women's health came out of my experience as a new mother  with very early premature son. I went into preterm labor and begged for any intervention that could possibly hold him off for at least another month but none of the solutions worked. After spending two months in the NICU listening to how the doctors struggled to find solutions themselves, I was ready to dive deeper into formalized training, seeking answers that I did not exist in conventional Western medical care.

Once my son was a strong, healthy toddler, I attended the Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College in Berkeley, CA where I quickly discovered my passion for women's health, fertility and pregnancy care and especially how to incorporate botanical medicine to reach optimal health. It was through the lens of wanting to offer natural, holistic solutions for all of women's health care that I approached my training. My mission is to treat each woman with individualized that care that addresses her particular nutritional needs, her own solutions for stress management and honors the emotional impact of physical symptoms that are deeply connected to each other.

My clinical focus is OB/GYN, Reproductive Medicine, and internal medicine with a foundation of whole systems family medicine. My goal is to empower women of all ages with information about their reproductive and hormonal health, taking a holistic approach which recognizes the vital connection of our emotional and physical selves. There are natural solutions for the challenges of hormonal fluctuations - women do not need to accept suffering as a normal part of the phases of their reproductive lives.

Along with women's health, I very effectively get people out of pain quickly with acupuncture. As a student intern, I had the distinct privilege of working with elite student athletes recovering from injuries with the University of California at Berkeley's Sports Medicine department. Acupuncture immediately decreases pain and speeds up recovery time when integrated into care from sports injuries, auto accidents, surgery or repetitive stress syndromes. Acupuncture, along with other East Asian medicine modalities, offer patients drug free pain relief so they can get back to enjoying their active lives.

Botanical medicine mastery requires life long study and as a self described herb nerd, I enjoy many weekends studying with Master Herbalist Arnaud Versluys with the Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine (advanced herbal studies) and Dr. Aviva Romm in Western Herbology for Women's Health and will soon begin a Graduate Mentorship program with the distinguished Classical Chinese Medicine leader in our field, Dr Sharon Weizenbaum.

When my nose is not buried in books, I cannot get enough snuggles from my two boys who are growing up way too fast! We love to hike, camp, and mountain bike through the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. When raining we retreat back to one of our first loves....going to the movies, making movies and stop motion animation!
